Crises run through our world. Climate, humanitarian, health, economic crises; crises of social contracts, liberties, institutions, an almost endless list. Our sensitive and our culture need to be on constant alert so that we can stay abreast of events. The arts are also called to respond, they have responsibility. Among them, poetry.

This book aims to investigate the conditions and the various manifestations of the current political poetry. We want to account for the poetic practices of our time that are related to public space, politics, dialogue, gender, dissent, subjectivation, hegemony or non-lyrical poetry, among other aspects. This theoretical and practical studies cover Brazilian, Chilean, Spanish, Galician, Israeli, Mexican, Portuguese and Basque spaces. The objective is to offer a first approach of a description and interpretation of the different ways in which the poetic expression of the present time responds to the political, economic, social and civilizational challenges of our time.

We argue that it is in the current poetic expressions that we can find the most lucid political conscience and the most impactful demand for a co-responsibility so that the necessary changes happen now and not in an uncertain future.
