II International Colloquium “Estar em casa with Adília Lopes: from the private to the political”
In the today’s Lusophone Literature, Adília Lopes plays a prominent role, although this is, fortunately, one might say, not consensual. In recent decades, both the significant influence she has exerted on the Portuguese-language literature and the international academic reception she has enjoyed have confirmed the relevance of her work, already translated into several languages, namely Spanish, German, French, English and Dutch.
Dealing with a wide range of outstanding contemporary issues— from feminism and ecology to the debates between speciesism and anti-speciesism, consumerism and anti-consumerism, culturalism and anti-culturalism, capitalism and neoliberal economics or the different notions of confinement and unconfinement— Adilian work constitutes an excellent starting point to critically review the globalised society, culture and economic-political structures of the West, which have been marked by various crises in recent times.
The II International Colloquium “Estar em casa with Adília Lopes: from the private to the political” will take place between June 30th and July 2nd in a mostly virtual format, whilst being based in the city of Vigo. Check the official website for further information.
